The Taste Collective by 1800 Tequila

The Taste Collective by 1800 Tequila connects with bartenders across the country through a first-of-its-kind, proprietary taste analysis created in partnership with the industry’s best.

We supported the analysis with live events in major cities, masterclass content and digital guides to the best Mexican-American taste in the country. Check it all out here.

NACHO JIMENEZ
Nacho—a true industry legend and co-owner of the #2 bar on North America’s 50 Best Bars 2025, couldn’t have gotten here without the people and places that shaped him. In this series, Nacho will share how the community he holds close continues to shape his approach to hospitality. He’ll also share how you can harness the power of connection to shape your own path.

ANA CASTRO
Award-winning chef and restaurateur, Ana Castro is no stranger to tapping into the full spectrum of flavor– whether it's getting nostalgic or sourcing what’s in season. In this series, Ana will share how she balances cooking with her head and with her heart to curate unforgettable culinary experiences.

ARIELLE JOHNSON
As a flavor scientist, educator and author, Dr. Arielle Johnson has dedicated her life to finding and defining good taste. In this series, she’ll show us what genetics, lived experience and our surroundings can teach us about our own taste. She’ll help you leverage this knowledge to enhance your own craft.

TASTE ANALYSIS
Taste is so much more than sweet, sour, salty, bitter, umami.

It’s a delicious marriage of contradictions. It’s one of the most complex sensory experiences we have, and we use it so frequently we practically take it for granted.

As bartenders and drinks professionals, it’s the beating heart of what we do, but we barely get trained in how it actually works.

We collaborated with world-class flavor scientist Dr. Arielle Johnson to develop a five-question analysis. Once completed, bartender’s unique scores gave a holistic, comprehensive and scientifically robust view of how they experience taste.

CHICAGO CITY GUIDE
This Midwest city is home to the third-largest Mexican population in the country. So it’s no surprise that Chicago is a hub for great Mexican cuisine and culture. The best part?
You can find 1800 tequila all across the city.
